He was standing in the batter's box on the right, and the moment his opponent threw the ball, he hit the ball in front of the wicket and behind it. I think standing in front of the wicket increases the risk of getting out. The surrounding defenders cannot predict the trajectory of the bat in advance. I thought it was a nice play that took a risk.
